Hi guys. Great hack today Zach. You have some friends. I’m your friend 🙂. I’m also a minimalism wannabe but I find it difficult to throw stuff away. I’m slowly getting there but I keep thinking “I can’t throw that away, it might be useful one day.” I know it will never be useful, but it might, come the apocalypse that you guys keep talking about… 🙂. I think it comes from an era when we never threw anything away. When I was young we used to sell everything and buy loads second hand but today everything has become so cheap to replace that we have become a throwaway society. Future archaeologists are going to have an interesting time going through our landfill sites.
I’m just starting my email list (Mailchimp but I’m open to persuasion) so today’s episode has been a great reminder to me to get stuff done.
The one thing I didn’t pick up (you might have said it while lovely wifey Denise was bringing me my cup of tea) was what is the difference between having different lists and tagging? Initially I am planning to have a non-fiction list and a fiction list. But can this be better served by only having one list and using tagging?
Great show as usual today.
Cleaned up those comments for you 😉
In most cases, tagging is when you’re labeling subscribers on one list which means you pay only once for that subscriber no matter how many different tags they have. With multiple lists, you could be paying for the same subscriber multiple times. However, I if your audiences are completely different, you probably want to have multiple lists like I do for my fiction and non-fiction.
Brilliant. Thanks J.
Perfect timing on this episode. I changed from Mailchimp to Mailerlite and after reading Newsletter Ninja and taking the Selling for Authors course, I’m finally ready to create an autoresponder. I’m also going to start a monthly newsletter for the people on my list that I’ve ignored for years. Sigh. Thanks for getting into the weeds on this one.
Great! Keep us updated on your progress.
